Everybody has their own journey…
But you don’t have to travel it alone
About Jaredtalks
As an aspiring collegiate and professional basketball player—and as a teenager navigating life— I’ve grown through countless experiences. Yet as a son, brother, friend, and member of my community, I recognize that there is still so much left to learn, grow from, and become. To me, the mental well-being of those around me is everything. Everyone carries battles that aren’t always visible, and I want to be someone who brings light into those moments of darkness. Through honesty, vulnerability, and shared experiences, my goal is to create a space where people feel seen, supported, and understood—because no one should have to face their challenges alone.
What really is Mental Health?
We all know it, we have all heard about it, we have all experienced it — Mental Health. It’s present in the way we handle stress, in the thoughts that fill our minds, and in the emotions we carry each day. It shapes how we see ourselves, how we treat others, and how we respond when life gets hard, reminding us that what happens inside us matters just as much as what happens around us.
According to the World Health Organization, mental health is: a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn and work well, and contribute to their community. It has intrinsic and instrumental value and is a basic human right.
Recognizing mental health is essential because it honors the invisible battles people carry each day. When we acknowledge it, we create space for honesty—for people to speak, to struggle openly, and to seek help without fear or shame.
The Importance of Mindset
Your greatest battles and victories both begin in your mind. Before a challenge is ever faced in the real world, it is first met within your thoughts—through doubt, belief, fear, or confidence. Mindset shapes how you interpret obstacles, whether you see them as walls that stop you or lessons that strengthen you.
It influences how you respond to failure, how you handle pressure, and how willing you are to keep going when things become uncomfortable. In this way, mindset becomes the foundation of growth, reminding us that success is not just built by talent or opportunity, but by the beliefs we carry and the choices we make when no one else is watching.
